Plot : The film sees filmmaker Tom Shadyac venturing into non-fiction territory for the first time. The man behind comedies like ‘Ace Ventura’, ‘The Nutty Professor’ and ‘Patch Adams’ has returned to helm this documentary, which recaps what happened to the filmmaker, after a cycling accident left him crippled for some time. The casualty had a profound effect on him, as he got rid of the Hollywood way of living and stepped into the real world with his camera crew, to meet the people who inspired him. I Am video showcases the director’s riches-to-rags journey and also delves into today’s modern world, which is addicted to materialism. Through conversations with various luminaries, Shadyac seeks out ways and means to make the globe a better place to live. Donning different hats, like an on-screen as character, commentator and a guide in the film, Shadyac converses with an array of noted men and women, from the fields of science, philosophy and faith, including David Suzuki, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Lynne McTaggart, Ray Anderson, John Francis, Coleman Barks and Marc Ian Barasch.
