Plot : Director Christian E. Christiansen’s The Roommate works out like a thriller movie. It depicts one friend’s obsession over another. The film stars Sara, played by Minka Kelly and Rebecca, played by Leighton Meester. Sara has joined her new college where she goes with the same thought process every adult goes through. The excitement of meeting with new friends, the apprehension of finding people you do not find yourself comfortable with, the burden of meeting the educational standards and, above all, the anxiety over what their future holds. When Sara moves into the college, she, like the random rule that applies while assigning a dorm to every new joiner, is given a room where she first meets her roommate, Rebecca. The Roommate video generates thrill that you always want to see in a thriller. Rebecca and Sara start off well but their friendship traverses a sinister route, when Sara’s roommate starts taking too much interest into her. She becomes obsessed too much with her and her life. She starts following people in Sara’s life, thereby making Sara feel uncomfortable and putting her life completely off-balance. The scare is there and the thrill is there – everything that a true thriller movie should have.
